So excited

I'm so excited I was the Spotlight Feature over at Once Upon a Sketch with my layout '80 Years Old'  My Beautiful Mother-in-Law.
Thanks to Nadia and the team.

Dusty Attic

I submitted this one for the February Sketch challenge over at Dusty Attic today.
The sketch is from Michelle Grant.
I actually really like this one of my mother in the early 1950's and my journaling says that I can't believe they were allowed to wear shorts in the era this photo was taken.
I've used some beautiful pieces I received from Belinda and the little gem stone looking star flower is from Monica.

Scrap the Girls

This one's of my work colleagues, we were having a catch-up lunch after we'd all resigned or retired from work.
I have a little hidden tag that gives the names of everyone - for future reference.
I set my own task to use some older papers and flourished I had in my stash, task accomplished.

Trying a Canvas

I thought I'd give a small canvas a go, firstly I used gesso then Dylusions ink sprays and Tattered Angels Glimmerists and Mr Huey's white coloured mist.  I just kept adding, blowing and splatting the inks until I was happy.
The colours look so different here as I took the first photo inside and toward evening and the finished one outside and it was very sunny even though I was on the verandah.
This is the name of my grandson's screamo band, I made the name my own by putting the'B' back to front - no really I made a mistake -oooooops!!!

Rescuing a Wombat

This post has nothing to do with scrapping (well not yet anyway, I might just have to do a layout with this photo).

As you may have read earlier on my posts my son and his family were evacuated from their camp site during the recent bushfires.  They had seven of their children, their dogs, cats and birds with them and made it home safely with nothing left behind.
Recently they returned to the general area to see the aftermath of where they’d been camping and they came across this huge wombat.  Scott approached carefully but the poor creature was so ill it didn’t move.  Scott’s wife dribbled water across the wombat’s nose and it drank slowly from the drips.  They realised the poor thing was no danger to them so Scott picked it up and drove it to the nearest vet, it turned out that there was a baby in the pouch and surprisingly it was alive.  The vet rang a wildlife carer and the wombat was collected to be cared for until it was re-hydrated and a satisfactory release area was found for it.
My son is looking a bit surprised or maybe the weight of the wombat was becoming a bit heavy.  I think they said it was about 40kg.

My Beautiful Mother-in-Law

I'm entering this in two challenges one over at C'est Magnifique and the other at  Once Upon a Sketch

This layout didn't come together easily for me, I think I was feeling like many others at the moment and didn't have much motivation or creative thought.
I'm happy with it now as I lifted the hexagonal background with a thin piece of cardboard to give it some dimension.  I've also fussy cut some of the patterned paper and layered them along with a few extra hexagons.  The little jewels you see are a cheap pair of earrings I bought on sale.  I used some texture paste and a stencil for the little flourishes around the edge of the page before I painted them with JoSonja's pearl paint. I also used a Dusty Attic chipboard frame embossed with Opals embossing powder.
Products Used:
Patterned Paper from Lincraft Stores
Prima Shabby Chic TreasuresBirds
American Craft Thickers
Kaisercraft Flowers
Handmade by me Flower
Seam Binding from The Craft Queen
JoSonja's Paint and Texture Paste
Urban Artist Stencil
Fiskars Border Punch
Sheer Ribbon from Stash
Dusty Attic Chipboard Frame (cut in two)
Opals Embossing Powder

Purple Pumpkin

This is my take on the sketch over at Purple Pumpkin and it's off my grandfather and his mother during the war years.
In the close-up above you will see the mixed media on this layout, I've used very old book pages that were scrunched and glued before spraying them with ink and stamping.  I've also fussy cut some of the flowers from the paper range.

American Craft Thickers Alpha
Kaisercraft Clock Stamp
Scrap Fx Chipboard
Prima Flower and Vine and Bird
Dylusions Ink
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Washi Tape

First Layout for Scrap Friends

This is my 'FIRST' born grandchild's 'FIRST' photo/image so how appropriate I have somewhere to enter it in a 'FIRST" page challenge.
I can't even remember where I got the papers but the alpha and yellow border were from KMart as was the mat of cork.

I used to have a small table set up in the lounge room but that has now grown into a whole room just for my crafting, I'm very lucky to have the space to spread out and gather more products.  This hobby really keeps me occupied and in touch with other ladies who constantly give me inspiration.

Sketches with a Twist

This is my take on the challenge over at sketches with a twist , this was a fun layout to do because the twist was to use texture paste.  I used a template and texture paste before spraying with Dylusions Ink.  I also machine stitched the edges of the page and added washi tape through the layout.  This is my youngest grandson at Kindergarten last year and the colours of his clothing went so well with the colours I'd chosen for this layout.
Products Used:
Bo Bunny Paper
Dylusions Spray Ink
ScrapFx Cogs Template
Spellbinders Sprockets Die
Eye Candy Magic Little Bird
American Craft Thickers Alpha
Hearts from Amy
Liquid Pearls
Felt
Washi Tape
Brads
Machine Stitching
