Once Upon a Sketch

This is my son about 15 years ago on his wedding day, he doesn't like to smile much for photos but I think this is him being pensive.  The journaling will be hidden behind the page because unfortunately my son has been divorced.
This is my interpretation of the fabulous sketch over at Once Upon a Sketch http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com.au/

And now for a couple of close-ups.
I've done some fussy cutting of the flowers and then mounted them as I did with the smaller two butterflies.  The vine and flowers are all Prima and I stamped some colour on the smaller ones.  The beautiful bule/green butterfly is also Prima.  The alpha is from Buzz & Bloom and I painted it with Gesso before inking with Versa Color marigold to match the smaller roses.  I've also used Kaisercraft Clock Transparency and flourish and a Sullivans flourish.  To finish off the alpha title I covered it with Dimensional Magic.

Another Page

Thought I would share this page because I had some friends say they liked this one best.  There's texture paste, inking and lots of misting (it's a shame you can't see the shimmer from the misting).  This is the first time I've used these stamps, they are from Darkroom Door and they're beautiful to use, I WANT more.

Art Journaling

I recently went to my very first class on Art Journaling and I think I might be a little bit addicted because as soon as I'm awake in the morning I want to paint or glue something!!!
Here's a few of my first attempts, only one has some journaling at the moment, I'm too busy spreading paint and stamping.  The first and the third one have serviettes for the pictures of butterflies and flowers - neat huh!  You can create to your hearts content with this using all your stamps, paint, household products to stamp, old books, memorabilia and the list goes on but I'm sure most of you know this because the same techniques are used in some scrapbooking.  I love getting a bit messy, I just don't know what to do about the space near the ring binding yet ???
I was so relaxed about all of this I just noticed I spelt theraputic (therapeutic) incorrectly, ooops!!!

C'est Magnifique November Sketch Challenge

This is the wonderful sketch for November and above is my interpretation, it's of my mother when she was in her early twenties (well I think it is, I must check with my auntie).  I found a mini album full of photos that she had taken in a photographic studio and I can't wait to use a couple more in the future.

And now for a few close ups.
 The products I used were:
Graphic 45 – A Ladies Diary,
Spellbinders Butterfly Die, Making Memories Alpha,
Prima Flowers and Zip Fastener, Decorative Scissors,
Kaisercraft Rhinestones and Flourish, Tim Holtz Distress Stamp Pad,
Stampin Up! Butterfly die, Tattered Angels Glimmermist,
Fiskars Border Punch, Quic Kutz Lace Doily Dies,
Lace and Doily from Stash.

Red Earth Sketch Challenge

I've used patterned paper from an old pad of DCWV The Green Stack Paper.  The embellies are from an opened pack from Kaisercraft, a handmade tag, kindyglitz, and I must admit one new piece (a Tim Holtz Swivel Clasp), and letters from an American Craft opened pack of alphas.

This is the sketch and the challenge also included that you keep it simple and create from mainly scraps that you have in your stash, trying not to cut a new piece of paper or open a new pack of embellishments.

Authentique Paper November Challenge

This is the sketch challenge over at Authentique Papers this month:
http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/2012/11/november-sketch-challenge.html

You can enter as many times as you wish so why not head on over and take a peek. Below is my take on the challenge.

I've used Authentique Genuine paper range, Cardstock, Hemp Twine, American Craft Thickers Alpha, Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies (stars), DieNamics Dies (banner) Kindy Glitz, Sewing Machine Stitching in red.
I love this paper range and it's so easy to work with, especially if you want to distress but I've chosen clean lines for this layout of my grandson.

Kraft it Up

The challenge was for minimalist and lots of white space - I found this really hard but here's my take on the challenge.
This is a really old photo from my childhood days and I'm hoping I'm right in guessing where it was taken.  The little lilac birds are from Amy http://amyvoorthuis.blogspot.com.au/, the washi tape is from my stash and the transparencies are Kaisercraft.  I've used Tattered Angels Glimmermist in Graphite for the background, the wordlets are from Dark Room Door and the leaves are also from my stash.
